Take off the head joint and put your right hand over top of the open end. Place your chin on the tone hole. Make your mouth shape look as if you were to say " whee-too."
STEP two
Your chin should be up against the flute, just so your lower lip is above the tone hole. The corners of your lip should be resting on the lip plate.
STEP Three
Take a big breath and blow just above the tone hole. Blow as if you were to say "doo," if you do this you should be able to play a steady, long tone.
STEP four
Now you can attach the head joint to the middle joint. Position yourself to the right of you and make sure the flute is downward slightly.
STEP Five
Okay, now you are ready. Take a big breath and play a strong, steady, long note.
